Encon continues to grow sustainably with Pieter-Jan Loyens as managing director
Bilzen, 30 January 2024
For 22 years, Encon has been supporting companies in their journey towards greater sustainability. In its early days, the company was a pioneer in the market; today, it is reaping the rewards of its strong vision on sustainability more than ever. The consultancy now has more than 120 employees and has an ambitious plan for the coming years. To steer this exponential growth in the right direction, Pieter-Jan Loyens was appointed Managing Director of Encon Belgium on 1 January this year.

Former sales & marketing director Pieter-Jan Loyens is taking over the operational management of the company. Co-founder Robin Bruninx remains a key strategic figure in this growth plan and will continue to focus on innovation, digital transformation and raising awareness of sustainability. He also remains chairman of the board of directors, which includes co-partner Sandra Deraeve and partner Hasco Invest.
Success through innovation
Encon has a diverse client portfolio featuring names such as Nelissen Steenfabrieken, Ekopak, Pauwels Sauzen, Barco and Distrilog. The past year has been particularly successful for the consultancy. ‘More and more companies are recognising the added value of integrating sustainability into their policies and wish to tackle this from the ground up,’ says Loyens with satisfaction. ‘Encon supports them in their quest to find the right balance between E (ecology), S (social) and G (governance). And then to highlight those efforts in their sustainability communications.’ As a product leader, Encon remains constantly committed to innovation. The expansion of its product range to support companies in developing a sustainable business strategy and implementing that policy is bearing fruit.
Ambitious sustainable expansion
‘The fact that Encon is growing at such a rapid pace is no coincidence. Our social impact is growing hand in hand with our operational expansion,’ says Bruninx. ‘Our ambition for 2024 to 2028 therefore goes beyond higher business growth. It is not just about the operational figures, but also the positive impact we have on the world around us. Our growth is part of a broader vision of sustainability and social well-being for companies and their employees.’
To provide customers with the best possible support, Encon’s range of services will also continue to expand. “Pieter-Jan, who has been with Encon since 2018, embodies the Encon DNA and has gained a deep understanding of our organisation, our customers and the market. Moreover, he has proven himself to be an exceptional leader with brilliant ideas and a passion for sustainability. I am convinced that under his leadership, Encon will continue to flourish and provide groundbreaking solutions in the world of sustainability consultancy.”
This change marks not only a new phase in Encon’s growth, but also a moment in which Robin and Sandra acknowledge that the future lies in the hands of young and dynamic leaders. “I am delighted to have been entrusted by Robin and Sandra to help steer Encon,” said Pieter-Jan. “I look forward to leading our next phase of growth as a team and creating impact together. Personally, I also see this as an example for other companies of how, as an employer, you can offer opportunities to young and driven professionals.”
