Read moreA pressing question from customers
Stobart Europe, headquartered in Genk and part of the internationally renowned Culina Group, plays a key role in the European transport and logistics sector. The company is known for its reliable and efficient transport services, forming a crucial link in the supply chains of many major customers.
Recently, however, Stobart Europe faced a significant challenge: one of its largest and strategically important customers explicitly requested detailed and transparent information on the CO₂ emissions generated by its transport operations. Failure to provide this data would not only represent a missed opportunity in terms of sustainability, but could also put this key customer relationship at risk, with potentially significant financial and operational consequences.
Stobart has been committed to various sustainability initiatives for many years. However, the internal team lacked the expertise needed to fully map the company’s carbon footprint across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
CO₂ strategy as a catalyst for growth
Encon first assessed the current situation by calculating Stobart’s full carbon footprint, covering both the Automotive and Logistics divisions. Based on this analysis, we developed a concrete CO₂ reduction plan aligned with the company’s business strategy and operational realities.
This gave Stobart clear insight into its main emissions hotspots and a roadmap of targeted actions that are both sustainable and financially sound.
Retaining key accounts
Thanks to this approach, Stobart was able to meet the requirements of its most important customer in the short term and safeguard this long-standing relationship. In addition, the company now has a clear understanding of where the greatest CO₂ reduction opportunities lie and can invest more effectively in sustainable improvements.

Stobart Europe
‘The CO2 strategy thus serves not only as a compliance tool, but also as a catalyst for innovation and growth.’
