Challenge
Your solar panels are generating plenty of energy, but are you making the most of it? Niko discovered that there was still significant potential to improve the efficiency of their existing system.

Through smart analysis and management, you can transform existing solar installations into high-performance energy assets.

Niko already had an extensive solar panel installation, but noticed that some of the energy generated was not being used to its full potential. Peaks in production did not always coincide with consumption, meaning that energy was partly wasted or used less efficiently. The challenge was clear: how do you get more value out of an existing investment without incurring additional infrastructure costs?
Data-driven optimisation for maximum energy utilisation
Together with Encon, a thorough analysis was carried out of both energy production and consumption. Based on these insights, an intelligent control strategy was developed to better align supply and demand. By managing processes and installations more intelligently at times of high solar production, Niko was able to significantly increase its own consumption.
This approach demonstrates how sustainability goes beyond technology alone: it is about the smart use of data and processes. This is how “Delivering Profitable Sustainability” is put into practice — creating more value with existing resources.
Higher returns, lower costs and a stronger business case
Thanks to the optimisation, Niko significantly increased its self-consumption of solar energy, resulting in an immediate reduction in energy costs and a better ROI for the installation. Furthermore, reduced reliance on the grid and more efficient energy management ensure greater stability in operational costs.
This initiative proves that sustainable choices are not only good for the environment, but also for business results. By managing energy consumption intelligently, you achieve both ecological and financial gains — a clear competitive advantage in an energy-intensive production environment.
Niko
“By using our solar energy more intelligently, we are now demonstrably getting a better return from the same installation — a textbook example of sustainable profitability.”
